Zilvervosje was a light checkered hen with a reflection of silver in her wing.
Zilvervosje was a wonderful breeder. She was fertile until her 16th year.
Zilvervosje can be considered as the foundation bird of many long distance strains in the Netherlands.

  • The Oude Witpen, stockbird of Toon Stoffelen was a grandson of Zilvervosje.
  • The Bontje Aarden, dam of the '10' of Toon Ligtenberg was a granddaughter of Zilvervosje.
  • The same Bontje Aarden was also dam of the Oud Doffertje of Janus van der Wegen...
  • Aarden II, sire of the 1 nat. St.-Vincent of Willem van den Burgh, was again a grandson of Zilvervosje.
  • In the pedigree of the Spin of Jef van Wanroy the sire is a grandson and the dam is a granddaughter of Zilvervosje.
  • The Spin was a foundation bird in the lofts of Peter van den Eijnden and of the Kuypers Brothers.
  • Bakker Barendregt also cultivated a pure Zilvervosje strain.
